As if Beanie’s not cool enough herself, she’s the sister of Jonah Hill (see “Jonah Hill and Fig”) and one of her “besties” is Tony and Grammy award winner Ben Platt (see “Ben Platt and George). Beanie and Ben were classmate at the prestigious Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles and have remained super close ever since.
Growing up in a Jewish home in Los Angeles, Beanie – whose real name is Elizabeth – sang as a junior cantor on Yom Kippur at her synagogue, Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills. The theme of her Bat Mitzvah party was – no big surprise here – theater. In 2018 Beanie told reporter Ryan Torok of the Jewish Journal: “I think we’re a very culturally Jewish family, and…there is a beautiful sense of community in Judaism. I love that.”
While Beanie may not have a dog of her own, she does love her family’s dog Jackie. Here they are in matching jackets in a photo Beanie posted on Instagram in 2021. In 2020, when Beanie was living at home with her parents in her childhood bedroom during the pandemic, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “…having the dog here…is the best source of joy. She’s such a little angel. I was doing all these chores around the house earlier and one of them was to brush her. I’ve never seen a dog enjoy something more, it was like she was at the spa. Whenever I’d stop, she’d take her paw and bat my leg to tell me to keep going.”
