by Kingston’s mom Shelly Gattlieb
Kingston isn’t my first bulldog. First I had Comet, who passed away in July of 2019. Since Comet, I have adopted two other bulldogs – both from Hoosier Bulldog Rescue. Buddy has since passed away, but Kingston is doing great! Although he and Buddy were best friends, Kingston is doing well as the only dog, and we will foster other dogs from the rescue until they find their forever homes.
Kingston’s second official rescue anniversary was January 13, 2023, so that inspired the Bark Mitzvah. He’s actually around nine-years-old now, but a very healthy boy and full of energy. As his Mitzvah project, we wanted to raise funds for the rescue and also bring attention to all they do. Hoosier Bulldog Rescue is a nonprofit in central Indiana that is 100% volunteer led, running solely on donations. Their dedication to French and English bulldogs stretches to the sickest, most neglected, least adoptable, etc. I encourage you to visit their page and share with others, as they can’t do what they do without donors, and 100% of money received goes directly to helping the dogs.
We invited people to donate to the rescue on January 13 for Kingston’s Bark Mitzvah and then through the weekend for his reception. Our total was $620 in donations – yay!
